Patio Repair Cost and Driveway Crack Repair Prices
Routine crack repair costs you nothing extra when it is part of a refresh: it sits inside our guide price of approximately €15/m² + IVA, together with cleaning and two coats of resin paint. Small potholes, spalled patches and broken edges are minor repairs we also carry out, priced from photos according to how many there are.
Send us a photo and the m²How much does driveway crack repair cost?
On a refresh, the cracks you see in a normal weathered driveway are filled as part of the €15 per m² + IVA rate. You are not charged per crack or per metre of crack; the filling is simply one of the stages the rate pays for.
| Scenario | How it is priced |
|---|---|
| Hairline and small cracks on a refresh | Included in €15/m² + IVA |
| A few small holes or spalled spots | Assessed from photos, shown as its own line if extra |
| Damaged joints or broken edges | Assessed from photos, shown as its own line if extra |
| Wide, moving or structural cracks | Not repairable with filler; we tell you before quoting |
Searches such as concrete driveway crack repair cost or patio crack repair quote usually come from owners with the first row in mind. That is the case the guide rate was built for.
Why is crack repair included rather than charged separately?
Because painting over open cracks is pointless: they show through the new colour and collect water and dirt. Filling them is a precondition of a good finish, so we treat it as part of the job, not an upsell.

On the Marbella reference job, the cracks across the stamped driveway were filled before any colour went on. Once the two coats were applied, they were no longer visible in the dark, even finish.
What concrete patio repair work is extra?
Anything beyond routine weathering is assessed individually. That does not automatically mean a higher price; it means we look at the quantity before committing to a number.
- Small potholes where a piece of the surface has come out.
- Spalling, where the top layer has flaked away in patches.
- Joints that have opened up or lost their filling.
- Edges and kerbs that have chipped or crumbled.
- Many cracks close together across a large part of the area.
If any of these push the quote above the guide figure, the written quote shows the extra as a separate, explained line. The full logic is in our guide on how a quote is worked out.
When will filling and painting not solve the problem?
When the ground underneath is moving. Cracks that keep widening, slabs that have dropped or tilted, and surfaces that rock under a car point to a base problem that filler cannot fix.
We would rather tell you that before you pay than paint a surface that cracks again. Our article on red flags in a quote explains why a contractor who promises to paint over everything is a warning sign.
Does the type of surface change the repair price?
The rate is the same, but the repair looks different on each surface. On plain concrete, filled cracks disappear under the colour; on imprinted concrete, the filler has to sit within the pattern so the texture still reads after painting.

For patterned driveways, see the imprinted concrete cost page. For block paving, loose or sunken blocks need relaying, which is outside our service; we price the cleaning and recolouring once the blocks are sound.
What does a quote with extra repairs look like?
It looks like the standard quote with one more line. The area is priced at the guide rate, and any repair work beyond routine crack filling is described separately, so you can see exactly what you are paying for and why.
| Line | Detail | Amount |
|---|---|---|
| Driveway refresh | 60 m² × €15, cleaning, crack filling, two coats | €900 |
| Additional repairs | Described item by item from your photos | Stated in the written quote |
| IVA | Rate that applies to you | Added on top |
If the photos show nothing beyond normal weathering, the second line simply does not appear. In that case the quote stays at the plain multiplication of area by rate, with IVA added at the end.
Can I order repair without repainting?
You can ask, but be aware that filled cracks are usually visible on an unpainted surface because the filler does not match the faded concrete. It usually makes sense to do the colour refresh at the same time.
If you still want repair only, send photos of each defect and we will quote it individually. Our sister site on crack repair explains the different crack types in more technical depth.
How do I get a repair quote from abroad?
Photograph every crack or defect up close, with something for scale such as a coin or a foot, and add a wide shot that shows where each one sits. Tell us the approximate size of the whole area.
Use the quote calculator for the refresh figure and attach the close-ups to the same message. We reply in English, in writing, and flag anything that looks structural before we quote.
Frequently asked questions
How much does patio crack repair cost?
When it is part of a refresh, routine crack repair is included in the guide price of approximately €15 per m² + IVA, along with cleaning and two coats of resin paint. A 30 m² patio refresh with typical weathering cracks works out at around €450 + IVA, confirmed from photos.
Do you charge per crack?
No. Normal weathering cracks are filled as part of the per m² rate. Only defects beyond that, such as many small holes, spalled patches or broken edges, are assessed individually, and any extra appears as a separate, explained line in the written quote.
Can you fix a crack that keeps coming back?
A crack that reopens is usually a sign of movement in the base. Filling and painting will not stop that. We tell you if the photos suggest movement, and recommend having the base checked by a specialist, as structural work is outside our service.
Do you repair small potholes in a driveway?
Yes, small potholes and holes where a piece of the surface has come out are among the minor repairs we carry out before recolouring. We assess the number and size from photos. Large failed areas that need breaking out and relaying are a job for a paving contractor.
What is spalling and can you repair it?
Spalling is when the top layer of concrete flakes away in patches, leaving a rough, lower surface. Minor spalled areas can be repaired before painting. If it affects a large part of the driveway, we tell you from the photos whether a refresh is still sensible.
Will the repaired cracks be visible after painting?
Routine cracks that have been filled and then coated twice normally blend into the new colour. On the Marbella reference job, the filled cracks were no longer visible in the finished dark tone. Cracks that move after the work will show again, which is why we check for movement first.
Can you repair imprinted concrete without losing the pattern?
Yes. Cracks are filled within the existing pattern and the surface is then recoloured, so the stone, cobble or brick texture remains. We do not grind or level the imprint. Broken-through sections that need replacing are outside our service.
Do you repair loose block paving?
No. Loose or sunken blocks need lifting and relaying, which is paving work we do not carry out. Once the blocks are sound, we can clean and recolour the surface. Photos of the joints and any movement help us tell you which applies.
What is the concrete driveway repair cost including IVA?
IVA is added to the guide price. A 50 m² refresh at €750 before tax becomes €907.50 at 21%, or €825 if the reduced 10% rate for home renovation applies. The reduced rate depends on legal conditions, explained with sources in our IVA guide.
Do you provide a structural report on cracks?
No. We do not carry out structural assessment or design. If cracks look structural, we say so and suggest you consult a qualified professional before any cosmetic work. Our role is surface repair and recolouring once the base is sound.
How do I photograph cracks for a quote?
Take a close-up of each crack with an object for scale, such as a coin or a shoe, and a wider shot showing where it sits on the driveway. Good daylight helps, and wetting the surface slightly can make fine cracks easier to see.
